Wow! What a great blog title. Bet you thought this was going to be a blog all about, well, the Mysteries of the Universe. It's probably going to end up more about Other Thoughts, but I still love the title.
I had an improptu lunch date with my friend Mae the other day. Talk about deep thoughts. This is the kind of lunch date that I love to have. Seriously. Just talking about life. We really focused our conversation on focusing. Focusing our mind. She reminded me that our subconscious can rule our conscious mind. And I reminded her that my mind is a scary place - at least that's what the Yes Man and I joke about. I'm smiling thinking about it.
But I digress...off on a tangent again...see what I mean about focusing? It's like when I'm talking to the kids and get sidetracked. Ben will patiently be listening to my stories and I'll completely stop right in the middle of it. He says "and then?" Hilarious! Right. Back on track, mommy. So actually, I have a theory on why mommies get sidetracked (notice I'm putting us all in this together). I think that subconsciously we mommies are prepared to be interrupted at any time, so we naturally put in pauses in our conversations to prepare for this. So there. Pretty smart, aren't we?
Anyway, back to my original story with my friend Mae. I came away with a few gems of wisdom (which I have forgotten already) - all but one that is. You know when you are laying in bed at night and it's quiet and dark? Most of us (for sure me) lay there before we fall asleep and download our day. All the negativity and such. Not the best idea right before drifting off. Mae suggested that instead of doing that, take those 10 minutes and
really focus on something that you want to change in your life. For example, I fear things - like driving (which I'll have to do a separate blog about because it is all coming back - yeah!). At night, my last thoughts will now be "I
am fearless". Mae believes that this will manifest itself into reality. It's funny, but we practiced this exercise at lunch. She said "How would it feel to be fearless?". I felt a radiant energy throughout my body - like a glow and that made me smile. I couldn't contain it. That would feel
awesome!
Try it tonight. Lay quietly and really think about one thing, one goal that you want to accomplish for yourself.
Thanks for reading - I am grateful for your time and your comments.
Keep smiling!
